After finishing the droid, I wanted to work on something a little more colorful (I had seen enough of that green color after two Cthulhus and the little android) so I worked on a little dragon. I really like the effect of the color-changing yarn, it makes for interesting patterns without even trying. He kind of reminds me of the Bubble Bobble characters, so maybe later I’ll try and make one in those colors later.

And as an added bonus, did you know you can also ride a wild Chocobo in FFXIII-2? Now, with only two days left to fund this gem, it’s time to pay an edible tribute to this game before it’s even released! From the information released so far, it definitely looks like exactly the type of game that gamers like me have been waiting for for so long. I’ve baked a Project Eternity chocolate mud cake, frosted with chocolate glaze and decorated with the Ouroboros dragon/snake that they’ve been using in the Project Eternity logo in marzipan, dusted in cocoa powder. It was very hard to photograph this in the evening and looks much better in person, but what are you going to do ;)

Their other skills besides looking incredibly cute include saying ‘dood!’ a lot and exploding on impact when thrown. They always carry a brown pouch with a skull on it to store bombs, knives and other weapons. These poor creatures actually have the souls of sinners sewn into their bellies and serve all their lives as soldiers, slaves or servants.

I modeled a 3D Prinny out of marzipan using a knife, two toothpicks and my bare hands. I really didn’t expect it to be so difficult, as they look simple enough. It turned out to be very hard for me to get the proportions exactly right and the details everywhere make it hard to find a place to hold it safely. But my Prinny is now finally standing on his two little peg-legs on a double chocolate cupcake frosted with chocolate buttercream:

• Diablo 3

I wasn’t too excited about it before it came out, but after playing the beta… Wow! So my next thought was: perhaps there should be a Diablo 3 cake! And guess what, there already is! Several of them actually. So my conclusion for now is that thanks to the wonderful people that baked these, I won’t bake today, but get to play more Diablo 3 instead!

Sparkly Mario Star Cupcakes

The Nameless One, the main character that has his mortality stripped away from him, bears the mark of torment. The Rune of Torment is described by Eric Campanella:

The bladed shape that appears on tattoos, the Axe of Torment, the Weapon of Torment, and is part of the ultimate Symbol of Torment, is actually two perfectly matching shapes flipped and combined. One of them is meant to be pure steel, the other rusted metal. These represent the Nameless One and the Transcendent One and their very unique relationship. You can see this symbol close up if you go to the bestiary section of the journal and make sure you have no portraits selected.

Inspired by the Rune of Torment symbol, I’ve baked a mocha cake topped with a marzipan torment symbol and cocoa powder:

Fell: It is *torment.* It is that which draws all tormented souls to you. Fell nods at your left arm, at your shoulder. The flesh knows it suffers even when the mind has forgotten. And so you wear the rune always.

Pain, Agony, Suffering, Torment. When the Rune is invoked, even the earth shall resonate its anguish. Torment of the mind. Torment of the body. Torment of the soul. All will be made clear when the Circle is drawn.
